Base Technology
- Base Oils: Mineral, synthetic, vegetable.

- Thickeners for Greases: Metallic soaps (e.g., lithium, calcium), polyurea, non-soap thickeners (e.g., bentonite).
Lubrication Types Compared
- Oils: Good cooling, for high speeds, may drip/run off.
- Greases: Stay in place, seal, for stop-start operation, limited cooling.
