Degreasing agent for pelts
GREIBOPON N
GREIBOPON N is a cost-effective, surfactant-based degreasing agent formulated for thorough and uniform degreasing of pelts. Based on fatty alcohol polyglycol ethers and supplied as a colourless to slightly yellowish liquid with an active substance concentration of approximately 35% and a pH value of 4.0 to 7.0 (10% solution), it delivers reliable degreasing performance across a broad range of raw materials and process conditions.
GREIBOPON N is applied undiluted and is not stable in chrome tanning floats. It shows good stability in salt solutions of standard concentration.
Key Benefits
Characteristics
| Base: | Fatty alcohol polyglycolic ethers |
| Appearance: | Colorless to slightly yellowish liquid |
| Concentration: | Approx. 35% |
| pH of a 10%-solution: | 4.0 – 7.0 |
Properties
| chrome tanning floats: | Not stable |

Application Examples
GREIBOPON N is suitable for beamhouse operations wherever thorough and even degreasing of pelts is required as a prerequisite for consistent tanning, dyeing, and finishing results.
For enhanced degreasing performance, the addition of 0.3 to 0.6% GREIBOPON N during soaking and liming is recommended. At this stage, GREIBOPON N accelerates the removal of natural fats from the hide structure, improving the uniformity of chemical uptake in all subsequent processing steps and reducing the risk of quality defects such as uneven dyeing or fatty spues in the finished leather.
An even better degreasing effect can be achieved by adding into soaking and liming 0.3 – 0.6 % GREIBOPON N. GREIBOPON N is applied undiluted.
Legal Information
GREIBOPON N has a shelf life of up to one year and is not sensitive to frost. Should the product freeze, it can be fully restored by warming to 20°C and stirring to homogenise. Below 10°C the product may become turbid. This turbidity has no effect on product efficacy or performance. Store in sealed original containers, protected from extreme temperatures.
