Full acrylic syntan for all soft leathers

GREIBOTAN RS

GREIBOTAN RS is a full acrylic syntan specifically developed for all very soft leather articles, including nappa leather, garment leather, and upholstery leather. Its carefully balanced acrylic polymer formulation delivers a very full and rounded handle without imparting a rubber touch to the leather, one of the most critical quality requirements in soft leather production where a natural, supple feel must be preserved throughout the retanning process.

GREIBOTAN RS provides very good grain tightness even on the softest leathers, effectively preventing grain looseness without causing any hardening of the leather structure. This combination of fullness, grain tightness, and softness preservation makes it particularly well suited for high-quality nappa and aniline leathers, where the natural grain surface is exposed and any compromise in handle or grain quality is immediately visible.

GREIBOTAN RS is specifically recommended for white and light-fast leathers, making it a reliable choice for premium aniline and semi-aniline articles in natural and pastel shades where colour clarity and resistance to yellowing are essential.

Properties

Application Examples

GREIBOTAN RS is the preferred full acrylic syntan for all very soft leather production across a range of premium applications where natural handle, grain integrity, and colour purity are paramount.

In nappa and aniline leather production, GREIBOTAN RS delivers the full, rounded body and tight grain needed for high-quality unsupported grain surfaces, where the natural texture of the hide is fully visible and any unevenness or looseness of the grain is unacceptable. Its non-hardening character ensures that the characteristic buttery softness and silky handle of nappa leather are fully preserved throughout the retanning process.

In garment leather production, GREIBOTAN RS provides the structural support and grain tightness required for lightweight, highly drapeable articles, without compromising the suppleness and natural feel that are essential for comfort and freedom of movement in clothing applications.

In upholstery leather production for furniture and automotive interiors, GREIBOTAN RS contributes to uniform fullness and consistent grain tightness across large hide surfaces, supporting the strict surface quality and durability requirements of premium upholstery applications.

For white and pastel leather articles requiring excellent light fastness, GREIBOTAN RS provides the reliable retanning performance needed to maintain a clean, bright base shade throughout the production process and over the service life of the finished leather.

GREIBOTAN RS works best when applied in the retanning process at 2 to 4% in floats between 35°C and 40°C, added 30 minutes before the main retanning agents. On well-neutralized leathers, it penetrates evenly from both sides of the hide at 2 to 4%, ensuring uniform distribution throughout the full leather cross-section. When applied to un-neutralized leathers, GREIBOTAN RS develops a higher affinity for the grain side, making it an effective tool for targeted grain tightening on loose grain materials at a maximum of 2%. After fatliquoring, 1 to 3% GREIBOTAN RS can be added and run for 30 minutes prior to acidification, resulting in improved grain tightness and enhanced bath exhaustion of the fatliquors.
