Wet dressing rolling agent
GREIFER DR-8
GREIFER DR-8 is a water-soluble wet dressing and rolling agent specifically developed for the wet dressing of annealed, cold-rolled steel sheets and steel strips. Its advanced formulation is engineered to meet the precise requirements of modern cold-rolling and strip processing operations, where surface cleanliness, corrosion protection, and controlled lubricity are essential for downstream processing and product quality.
GREIFER DR-8 delivers outstanding washing performance that effectively prevents metal adhesion during the dressing process, while its deliberately low lubricity reliably eliminates roller slipping, ensuring consistent strip tension and dimensional accuracy throughout the rolling operation.
Corrosion protection is maintained from the end of the dressing process through to final packaging, safeguarding the surface quality of finished steel sheets and strips during storage and transport.
A yellow or brown discoloration of the product is a natural characteristic of the alkanolamine components it contains and has no effect on product performance or applicability.
GREIFER DR-8 is completely free from boron, nitrite, secondary amines, organically bound halogens, and organic solvents. All components are fully biodegradable, and dilutions of the neutralised product will not impair the operation of wastewater treatment plants. The product makes no contribution to halogen loading in effluent, making it a responsible choice in terms of environmental compliance and regulatory requirements.

Properties
Composition of additives, alkanol amines and microbiocides in water.
GREIFER DR-8 is specially developed for wet dressing of annealed, cold-rolled steel sheets and steel bands.
The product excels with the following advantages:
A yellow or brown discoloration of the product is characteristic for the contained alkanolamines and does not reduce the applicability.
The product is free of boron, nitrite, secondary amines, organically bound halogens and organic solvents.
GREIFER DR-8 contains only biologically degradable components. Dilutions of the neutralized product will not affect the proper operation of wastewater treatment plants. The product does not contribute to halogen loading in the effluent.
Application Examples
GREIFER DR-8 is the preferred wet dressing agent for cold-rolling mills and strip processing lines handling annealed, cold-rolled steel sheets and steel strips, where surface quality, cleanliness, and reliable corrosion protection are paramount.
The product is designed for use in continuous circulation systems and is particularly well suited for high-volume steel strip production in the automotive supply chain, steel service centres, and packaging steel manufacturing, where consistent surface finish and freedom from contamination are critical for subsequent forming, coating, or painting operations.
Important: Due to its elevated pH value, GREIFER DR-8 is not suitable for the treatment of non-ferrous metals or non-ferrous metal-coated ferrous metals. Any plant components that may come into contact with the product and contain non-ferrous metals should be replaced with pH-resistant alternatives prior to use.
| Working concentration: | 2 – 5 % in fully desalinated water |
| Application: | one-off |
| System maintenance: | concentration monitoring, microbial monitoring |
| Concentration monitoring: | with hand refractometer, by electric conductivity |
