Defoaming agent for recycling

GREIMIN BW-1

GREIMIN BW-1 is a high-performance defoaming agent for effective foam control and foam prevention, specifically developed for use in aqueous systems and process liquids across a wide range of industrial applications.

Supplied as a white, emulsifiable liquid with a density of 1 g/cm³ and a pH value of 4 to 6, GREIMIN BW-1 is formulated as a surfactant blend that is completely free from fats and oils. This makes it the preferred choice in applications where oil or fat-based defoamers would cause process interference or product contamination.

Its broad pH range compatibility ensures reliable defoaming performance across highly diverse process water compositions, delivering consistent foam suppression and prevention even under varying operating conditions.

Key Benefits

  • Highly effective foam control and prevention in aqueous systems
  • Completely free from fats and oils, preventing process interference
  • Broad pH range compatibility for diverse process water applications
  • Emulsifiable surfactant blend for easy integration into existing systems
  • Minimum one-year shelf life in sealed original containers

Application Examples

GREIMIN BW-1 is the preferred defoaming solution for process circulation waters in demanding industrial recycling and sorting operations, where foam formation in aqueous washing and separation systems can significantly impair process efficiency, throughput, and water management.

In plastics recycling, GREIMIN BW-1 effectively controls foam in the process circulation waters of plastic sorting and washing operations, where intensive mechanical agitation and contaminated input streams frequently generate persistent foam that disrupts separation efficiency and increases water consumption.

In automotive scrap recycling, GREIMIN BW-1 delivers reliable foam suppression in the process circulation waters of scrap sorting and washing systems, where the complex mix of contaminants and surfactant residues on automotive components can cause severe foaming that impairs plant performance and effluent management.

For optimal results, GREIMIN BW-1 should be dosed at a working concentration of 0.01 to 0.05%. Dosing should always be carried out incrementally at a point of turbulent flow: add a small initial quantity, allow sufficient time for thorough distribution, evaluate the achieved effect, and apply additional product only if required. Suitability and optimal dosage should always be determined by on-site trials under actual process conditions.

Legal Information

GREIMIN BW-1 should be stored in plastic containers or stainless steel vessels due to its low pH value. To maintain product quality, storage in direct sunlight, excessive heat, or freezing conditions should be avoided. At temperatures below approximately 10°C the product may become inhomogeneous, and below the solidification point of approximately 0°C it may solidify. Both conditions are fully reversible: the product can be restored to a homogeneous liquid state by gentle warming and thorough mixing. Extended exposure to direct sunlight or temperatures above 50°C may cause a slight yellowish discoloration, which does not affect product performance. Stored in sealed original containers at temperatures below 30°C, GREIMIN BW-1 has a shelf life of at least one year. Stir, pump, or shake thoroughly before use.
