Defoaming agent – defoamer for water treatment

GREIMIN AW-0

GREIMIN AW-0 is a highly effective, biodegradable defoaming agent specifically formulated for the treatment of industrial and municipal wastewater as well as circulating process waters. Its broad pH tolerance makes it one of the most versatile antifoam solutions available for demanding water treatment applications.

GREIMIN AW-0 delivers reliable, long-lasting foam suppression across a wide range of wastewater compositions, including those arising from the processing of vegetable and animal substances, where foam development can significantly impair process efficiency and plant performance. Its formulation ensures that, at normal dosage levels, biological activity in sewage treatment plants is not adversely affected, making it a responsible and operationally safe choice for both mechanical and biological treatment stages.

The product has low emulsifiability and should be applied in its delivered form without dilution. For optimal distribution and precise dosing, it is recommended to introduce GREIMIN AW-0 at a point of turbulent flow within the system. Dosing should always be carried out incrementally: add a small initial quantity, allow sufficient time for thorough distribution throughout the liquid, evaluate the achieved defoaming effect, and only then apply additional product if required. This step-by-step approach minimises consumption and prevents overdosing.

Typical working concentration is 0.01 to 0.05%. Suitability and optimal dosage should always be determined by on-site trials under actual process conditions.

Application Examples

GREIMIN AW-0 is the preferred defoaming agent across a wide range of industrial and municipal water treatment applications, particularly where foam control is critical to process stability and regulatory compliance.

In biological and mechanical sewage treatment plants, GREIMIN AW-0 effectively controls foam regardless of the specific wastewater composition, ensuring uninterrupted plant operation without compromising the biological treatment process.

In the sugar processing industry, GREIMIN AW-0 is used for the reliable defoaming of wastewater in external treatment areas, where foam formation during organic processing can otherwise disrupt operations and create environmental compliance issues.

In paper and pulp manufacturing, GREIMIN AW-0 delivers consistent foam control across the full production process, including pulp preparation, size press operations, and wastewater treatment, where uncontrolled foaming can negatively impact product quality, machine runnability, and effluent management.

Legal Information

The product can form a turbidity or sediment at longer storage, in particular with lower temperatures. This however does influence neither the effectiveness nor the dosing-ability. GREIMIN AW-0 is not frost-sensitive. The product can be brought into the original state at any time by stirring, pumping or slight warming. GREIMIN AW-0 is storable in closed delivered packagings under normal temperature conditions (from +5°C to +30°C) at least a year.
